Inspired by the noble teachings of Lord Mahavir, Mahavir International started out as a humble effort of a few like minded people in 1975 on the occasion of the 2500th Anniversary of Lord Mahavir's Nirvana. Armed with the motto of "Love All Serve All' and the principle of "Live and let live", this organization took upon itself the task of promoting the philosophy and teachings of Non-violence, Non-injury, Truth, Ahimsa, Fellow-feeling and Brotherhood everywhere. These lofty ideals are of enduring significance and belong to the whole of humanity. They hold good for all times in all places.

Modular OT
The OT Complex at Mahavir International Eye Hospital boasts of a fully Modular Operation Theatre where patients can experience state-of-the-art Operation Theatre conditions. The purpose of a Modular OT is to reduce the incidence of infection to the bare minimum possible as well as strict adherence to stringent norms of sterilisation will ensure the highest level of safety from infection for our patients.

Mahavir International Eye Hospital has ample capacity of bed strength to take care of patient admitted for treatment and surgical services. Inpatient stay facility is available for all segments of population (2 specials general word, 12 A.C. semi private word, 11 A.C. private word). Skilled and trained nursing staff is available round-the clock to take care of admitted patients.

Mahavir International Eye Hospital runs outsource pharmacy shop to provide prescribed medicines at discounted price. Outside prescriptions (without doctors recommendation) are not allowed.

To provide good quality refreshments and food to our patients and visitors we have outsourced canteen facility (including R.O. Drinking water). Though the canteen is outsourced it is rigorously monitored by management of Mahavir International Eye Hospital.

Cataract

Most people develop cataracts after the age of 60, in one or both eyes. Cataract symptoms include hazy, blurred or double vision, sensitivity to light and glare, difficulty seeing in poor lighting conditions, difficulty in distinguishing changes in contrast, and fading of colors. Without cataract treatment, your vision will continue to deteriorate and affect daily activities, such as your ability to read and drive. Glaucoma
Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of irreversible blindness, an estimated 12 million people are affected in India. Among these, a staggering 1.1 million are blind due to this disease. It is aptly known as the “silent thief of sight” as patients commonly have no symptoms in the initial stages.
Only as the disease progresses do they complain of visual problems. This leads to late presentation of patients suffering with glaucoma. Treatment options are aimed at preserving existing vision and preventing further loss of vision. One of the most commonly asked question by the patients is, “Is glaucoma curable?” Glaucoma unfortunately is not curable and causes irreversible blindness. This therefore highlights the importance of early detection and treatment to preserve useful vision. Like diabetes, glaucoma is a lifelong disease which requires regular monitoring and lifelong follow up.
Retina
Retina is the light sensitive film in the back of the eye. The image is perceived here and transmitted to the brain by the optic nerve.
The vitreous is the clear gel that fills the back of the eye. Diseases of retina can affect at any age. Premature infants can be affected by a disease called - ROP (Retinopathy of Prematurity). Heredity and age related degenerations can affect the retina - especially the central most sensitive part of the retina called ‘macula’. The retina can separate from the back of the eye - a condition called ‘Retinal Detachment'. The Vitreous gel can become opaque due to blood - a condition called 'Vitreous hemorrhage'. This condition can occur in diabetics; following injury and in other conditions. The treatments available are Retinal Cryopexy, Retinal Detachment Surgery and Complex Vitreoretinal Surgery for diabetic Retinopathy and Laser Photocoagulation etc.
Pediatric ophthalmology
The human visual system develops as the brain matures a process that takes about ten years. Although a baby’s eyes are optically capable of seeing, infant vision is limited to around 20/1500 (the ability to see the shapes of people but not their features),
in part because the brain has not learned how to process the visual messages it receives. As visual development proceeds, that same child will eventually be able to detect the finest details in an image. Some ophthalmic problems encountered in children and frequently treated by our specialists include amblyopic, strabismus, pediatric glaucoma, brain disorders that affect vision, retinopathy of prematurity and retinoblastoma.
